When and how to drop a client

July 30, 2021 Sonny Le News Views: 479
Nabil FT · Impossible - Unleashed (TSFH)

Communication is the single most valuable asset in any relationship, including client relationships. So be open, honest, and humble.

What you offer isn’t what the client needs

Parents are the first and foremost educators of their children.

I was working with someone I liked a lot. We extended the work we were doing together because we clicked personally. But eventually, we wandered into territory that I was grossly underqualified for and had no interest in pursuing.

The client changes the agreement

Be present with the kids, engage in their curiosities, pursue their passions, and interact with them in the moment.

One of my freelancing friends was hired to do a specific task for an agreed-upon hourly rate. When the client discovered that the project was taking longer than anticipated, he suggested a rate that was half as much.

The client is art-directing

  • Have not been involved in the design or development
  • Represent your target audience
  • Are willing to give honest feedback

The Center’s engaging scavenger hunt is a great way for kids to learn more about this region. It was a fun learning experience that helped our girls to connect with life back in the mining days.
